EPAM University — now in Spain

On January 10, 2022, EPAM University launched its first educational program in Spain. The pilot course enrolled six future Java developers who will join the EPAM Spain team after completing it. Over the next three months, they will master the theoretical knowledge required to begin an IT career while gaining invaluable experience in Java development under the guidance of our experienced mentors.

Classes take place online. This format not only makes the learning more convenient for students, trainers, and mentors but also helps develop skills required for working in distributed teams.

Oleksii Dyshlevyi, Head of the EPAM University educational programs in Central and Eastern Europe, says: “The distinguishing feature of Junior Java Online Spain is its cross-location scope. A team of EPAMers from three European countries participated in the preparation and implementation of this program. Colleagues from Hungary covered content adaptation, course management, and mentoring support; peers from Spain handled legal issues and consulted on the local market and HR specifics; the Ukrainian team of EPAM University managed promotional activities, marketing, and candidate interviews.

Notably, the program's student body is similarly multinational. Half of the students enrolled in the pilot program are foreigners living in Spain. Every year, the practice of international teams conducting educational initiatives gains traction. We integrate the most effective approaches and achieve the best outcomes.”

More than 100 candidates applied for the program. However, the number of students in the pilot run was limited to work out the most efficient mechanism for implementing the educational program in the new region.

It's extremely gratifying to see how good initiatives take root in new regions. The second Java program launch in Spain in the spring of 2022 broke the previous record with about 150 applications for participation, attracting even more successful candidates and new specialists from EPAM. We can confidently safely say that the Spain + EPAM University initiative is still in its early stages, with many new programs, directions, interviews, and accomplishments to come.
