Junior Front-End Online Program in Hungary

30 Mar 2021

The first run of the Junior Front-End Online Program created by EPAM experts from Hungary and Ukraine has been launched at the beginning of March. It focuses on motivated candidates with no prior engineering degree or work experience in IT and provides the most useful and practical knowledge students will need for starting their career in Front-End development, as well as offering the chance to break the Catch-22 of “no job – no experience, no experience – no job”.

According to StackOverflow’s annual survey 67,7% of professional developers are using JavaScript today. So, for the eighth year in a row, JavaScript has maintained its stronghold as the most used programming language. Consequently, the demand for engineers with JavaScript as a primary skill grows continuously.

One hundred and sixty-five students from all over Hungary started their studies with the Junior Front-End Online Program on first of March 2021. This is the first educational program by EPAM Hungary for a wide audience possessing an entry level of experience. During the next three months of intensive training with experienced lecturers and mentors, students will master essential technical skills required to start working in Front-End development. After passing their graduation tests the most successful and motivated candidates will be offered to continue their studies at EPAM’s pre-preproduction laboratory and to get a chance to join the EPAM team.

JUDIT GYORI, Head of Growth & Development at EPAM Szeged, and the Program Manager for the Junior Front-End Online Program in Hungary stated: “Traditional educational programs by EPAM in our country were run in a mentoring format for talented trainees already focusing on IT. So, the pilot launch of the Junior Front-End Online Program has become an innovative initiative for our team. Within just a month of the marketing campaign we got over 830 registrations from candidates across the country. It goes well beyond our expectations and confirms a high demand for such programs in Hungary”.

The Junior Front-End Online Program has been delivered in a convenient online format to allow motivated and talented candidates from all over Hungary to join the course. However, the majority of students are from the cities where EPAM is represented – Budapest, Debrecen and Szeged.

Judit Gyori highlights Corporate Social Responsibility as one of the components of the educational program: “The Junior Front-End Online Program is completely free of charge and students are not bound by any obligations to the company, so by providing them with a state-of-art knowledge we contribute to the IT communities of the country”.

Maxim Pachabut, Director, Head of Educational Programs at EPAM CEE stated:

EPAM’s educational programs evolve rapidly to meet the requirements of the new reality we live in. New challenges boosted development and implementation of the innovative educational solutions. Collaboration in international teams allow us to create top-quality educational content adapted to local specifics of a particular region. The growing demand for JavaScript developers in Hungary has become a main driving force for the launch of the Junior Front-End Online Program in this country

Broad experience in working with large number of potential candidates allows us to identify young talented engineers at an early stage of their studies. This is one of the key strengths of the Ukrainian team. When combined with the high-quality individual work practiced by our Hungarian colleagues, we are able to deliver effective outcomes.

Judit Gyori: “The program started at the beginning of March, so most of our students are still getting used to the intensive pace of stud: two-hour webinars three times per week plus time for home tasks and self-education. We have already received positive feedback about the way the educational process is organized. Most of our students who contacted us started their message with “We are really happy to be a part of this course”, which is the most inspirational statement for all our team”.
