Meet the new education project at EPAM university – Junior Java Online Program has been launched in July 2020. This Program has been developed for the students with entry level of engineering experience and will be run online.
The challenges of the year 2020 have boosted development and implementation of new approaches to EPAM’s educational programs. The transformation of the company’s educational services is becoming global.
Maxim Pachabut, Director of Education Programs in Central and Estern Europe:
The key to success in the new reality is agility, readiness to accept challenges, scaling cross-location collaboration within the company and sharing experience to achieve prominent results. We are working on combining the best practices of several countries to bring our educational programs to a higher level.
Starting from the very beginning of 2020, EPAM experts from Poland and Ukraine have been working together on a new project aimed at helping universities and colleges develop talents through cooperation with EPAM University. A new offline course for talented students with entry level experience of engineering is expected to be launched this year. However, the new reality has brought with it new challenges.
So, turning obstacles into opportunities, the first Junior Java Online Program is being prepared for launching in August. It has been created for talented candidates who currently have no work experience.
The pilot project will be run for a group of up to 50 individuals and may be considered as a preparation stage before moving on to the advanced level.
After completing this program, successful candidates will get an opportunity to continue their studies within the company in various ways; one of these is joining the well-known EPAM Java Academy.
Adam Szczeblewski, Java Academy Project Coordinator, Senior Software Engineering Manager:
The Java Academy program offers a unique opportunity to bring technical skills to a different level under the guidance of highly-qualified coaches. It is full-time on-site training, focused on practical experience and mastering programming skills. Our target audience includes both students with some engineering experience, and specialists who have obtained junior positions and are searching for new job opportunities and professional development. During their studies in the Java Academy students will be sharpening their engineering skills in small groups of 10-15 persons under the guidance of a professional trainer.
Tomasz Borek, Lead Training and Development Specialist:
Studying in Java Academy requires a lot of effort. The program is quite intense. It provides not just an overview of the basics; it gives deep insights about various aspects of programming. It is fair to say that mastering the Java Academy program involves about five months of really hard work, which can be tougher than a full-time job.
The Junior Java Online Program will help candidates get ready for the advanced level and to understand for themselves whether they are truly interested in the Java programming language.
Both programs aim to fill the gaps in university education. They offer the chance to break the Catch-22 of “no job – no experience, no experience – no job”. The Java Academy accomplishes this via a laser-like focus on practice: through workshops, hands-on tasks, solo and group projects.
The unique features of multiple markets where EPAM is represented have resulted in different approaches to educational activities, – said Maxim Pachabut, – our goal is to bring all the best practices together to achieve a greater result. The key strength of EPAM Poland education experts is high-class individual work with each and every student of the Java Academy Program. The graduates of this program are highly-qualified specialists with impressive project experience. Among the Ukrainian best practices is broad experience in working with a large number of potential candidates, which enables the identification of many young talented engineers in the early stages of their studies and helps them to master skills that are in high demand. Basically, it is a comprehensive training process.
