When the wind of change is blowing, it is time to set sails, not to build walls as the eastern saying has it. Who knows, perhaps soon 2020 will be considered not a period of difficulties and trials, but a time of realized opportunities and revolutionary solutions. We hasten to share the good news: global transformations have also affected educational programs united under the EPAM University brand, significantly expanding learning opportunities. So, first things first.
Erasing borders
For a long time, our programs were site-specific, strictly tied to one of the locations where the company's offices are and hosted by local technical universities. In Ukraine, such educational hubs were Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Lviv. That significantly limited the opportunities for young professionals to become students of EPAM University as well as the potential pool of talents for the company to work with.
The new reality, seemingly challenging at first, has turned out to be a win-win situation. Today, the practice-oriented approach has replaced the location-oriented approach.
Best practices from all regions were combined into unified programs and completely restructured for online learning.
80% of the updated content is uniform information and only 20% of it acquaints listeners with the peculiarities of work in a particular region.
No matter where the future EPAM University students physically are, they will study their chosen specialization by the same program with access to all materials. Later on, when they move to project work and cooperation with the company, it will allow them to easily adapt the acquired knowledge to the specifics of work in a concrete region.
How the training will be conducted?
After a screening test and interviews with the company's recruiters, the participants will go through three stages. The first stage is an online program, lasting about 140-160 hours (3-4 months), depending on the chosen specialization. Upon successful completion of that stage, candidates will be offered opportunities for future juniors in EPAM, for example, enrollment in the Laboratory, Pre-Production or other options for starting a career in EPAM.
Keeping in mind that online rules the day we might add one more significant "plus" to all the advantages listed above, that is a work experience in distributed project teams. For example, a Scrum master can be in Kyiv, a business analyst — in Vinnytsia, and fellow developers — in Krakow, Lviv or Dnipro.

Over the past months, we have substantially modified both the format and the content of educational programs. However, as before, we guarantee a high quality of knowledge and enable young specialists to gain as much practical experience as possible. This way they can become sought-after specialists in the future.
In June, the EPAM University launched several all-Ukrainian online programs in today’s most popular areas: Java, .NET, QA, and in early July DevOps has also started.
Each group, numbering from 150 to 350 people, will audit the theoretical material systematized by EPAM specialists, reinforce their knowledge in a series of workshops and pass several assessments. Functions of digital workbook as well as assignment diary are performed by Microsoft Teams and EPAM's internal platforms for distributing educational content - Grow and Learn.
We are planning to hold selections for the mentioned specializations on a regular basis. In addition, selections in other directions will periodically take place.
